CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
If you are drawn to cattle country and the true western lifestyle, Alberta, Canada is the place to be! Veterinary Agri-Health Services, Ltd. (VAHS) was founded in 1993 in southern Alberta and currently services progressive cow-calf and feedlot operations across all four western provinces. Though we are 100% beef cattle focused, there are several areas to specialize in and lots of variety to our day. Our mission is to provide client-focused professional services and evidence-based expertise in beef cattle health and welfare, production medicine, field research, and veterinary education.
We have built our practice on excellent customer service, and as a result have very strong relationships with our clients. We consider many of them close friends and are frequently invited to their brandings, cattle drives, and bull sales. Our clients have excellent facilities, and all herd and individual animal work is performed on site at their ranches and feedlots.
Our team is strongly encouraged to become active in industry roles (AABP, AVC, WCABP, ABVMA, ABVTA, etc.) and volunteer within the community (4-H, Ag societies, etc.) We strive for excellent communication and conduct brief “tailgate” meetings, vet team strategy meetings, and rounds on a weekly basis, as well as quarterly staff meetings with breakfast. We enjoy teaching and host student rotations through the University of Calgary Distributed Teaching Hospital. We also deliver an Advanced Beef Production Medicine rotation each July for ten 4th year veterinary students from all over North America.
VAHS has a newly constructed office and warehouse located near Crossfield, Alberta, Canada. You name it, its nearby: international airport, downtown Calgary, mountains and the world-renowned Banff National park, fishing and big-game hunting, prairies, foothills, and badlands, and lots of rodeos and western events including the greatest outdoor show on earth, The Calgary Stampede! VAHS hosts numerous staff events each year including a summer party, Christmas party, and river float. We also enter a team in the local ranch rodeo competition.
